MANAGE APPOINTMENTS?

A:

Manage appointments through the booking portal on our website. Or reply to a confirmation text .We are closed Monday and Tuesdays. Messages will be returned on Wednesday. If you book a second appointmentt but do not cancel the original one, you will be charged for both as per the 48 hour cancellation policy.

HOW LONG DOES MY HAIR NEED TO BE?

A:

For sugaring, the length of a grain of rice or long grain rice (if your hair is deeply rooted). Or half the size of your hair when you were waxing. For laser, a fresh shave is best, but a days worth of growth might be ok. Book a shave if you think you might need it.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY VISIT?

A:

For sugaring you may scrub/exfoliate legs before you arrive to release hairs that are trapped by a thin layer of skin or you can book a Pre-care. This may include Glyco Enzymatic pre-care and/or manual leg scrub, otherwise, we will not be responsible for hairs trapped by skin.

No oils, lotions or deodorants. You can come early and try to wash them off in the bathroom, but if these products are found on the skin once you enter the treatment room, it will require a pre-care. Lotion on legs can cost a bit of money and time to remove and may result in us not having enough time to complete your full leg session, but you will be responsible for the cost of the precare and the originally booked services.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY APPOINTMENT?

A:

Clean, comfortable and loose-fitting clothing you don’t mind getting oils/aloe on. This way your freshly sugared/lasered skin won't get irritated. We may do a post-care treatment we call “the marinade” after your appointment, and you might want to keep product on your skin. The shop room can sometimes get chilly, we have blankets, but you can also bring cozy socks if you like. Feel free to bring your bathing suit so we can style your hair to match. In the sweaty summer some folks bring fresh clean clothes with them to change into, this helps minimize or prevent red bumps caused by exposure to sweat salts and bacteria.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT FOR MY FIRST VISIT?

A:

We are located in a residential building, arrive 15 minutes to give yourself time to buzz in to 6B (press 6 button, arrow key to 6B, then green bell), come early, let us treat you to a hot beverage and plant tincture service. Expect that even with Pre-care we might not be able to sugar up every single hair the first time, you may have long and short hairs that need time to get into a sugaring rhythm. If you’re preparing for a special occasion, start about 3 months before and get in 2-3 appointments before the big day! Book a Chat with Nat if you have questions!

WHAT IF THERE ARE HAIRS LEFT BEHIND?

A:

Before you leave the treatment room ask for the handheld mirror to make sure that you are happy with the results. Sometimes we leave hairs behind for specific reasons but we make it a policy to talk to you about why they were left behind. Either they were too short to pull or they were so deeply rooted that they were breaking. In growns can be created from breakage so sometimes we leave those hairs for the next time we pull. Within 48 hours of your appointment you can always text us, so we can fit you in for a touch-up!

WHAT SHOULD I DO AFTER MY APPOINTMENT/POST CARE?

A:

We’ve married hair removal and skincare and are staffed by licensed experts. Our retail wall is stocked with natural and effective products Uncle Nat has discovered over a lifetime of skin struggles. After your appointment, we will prescribe customized home care and suggest what not to do for the next 24 hours based on your unique biology and goals, if you do not listen to your esthetician’s prescriptions and suggestions, we can’t guarantee optimal results. No matter what, we are here for you in between appointments and happy to support you through any skin concerns.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT BEFORE HAVING SEX, GOING TO THE POOL, EXERCISING, OR GOING TO THE BEACH?

A:

This list is different for everyone! Your pores will be open 12-24 hours after your service. Salt from sweat can cause irritation. Your pores are more susceptible to bacteria than normal. Activities that introduce bacteria can cause red bumps or in some extreme cases, infection. A good rule of thumb would be to wait 24 hours before any strenuous activities.

Armed with this knowledge and agency over your body, we trust you with your decisions.

WHAT DOES SUGARING HOME CARE LOOK LIKE?

A:

The most basic sugaring home care is one that balances exfoliation with moisturizing.

1. A thoughtful cleanser

2. Scrub mitt

3. A bit of oil in the shower.

If additional moisture is needed we will recommend them based on your needs. All the products we recommend can be purchased in the shop or online at the website.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I BE COMING IN?

A:

We glorify body hair so timing depends on your personal needs, goals, and preferences.

To experience all the benefits of sugaring including hair refinement and less pain, come in when your hair is 1/8” or the length of a grain of rice. (waist DOWN we recommend 3-6 weeks, waist UP 1-4 weeks)

For laser, every 2 weeks for head, 3 weeks for pits, 4-6 weeks for trunk of body including brazilian, 6-8 weeks for legs.

For facials depending on goals and homecare, every 4-6 weeks is recommended! All massage facials can be performed daily and laser facials every 3 weeks.

CAN I SHAVE BETWEEN APPOINTMENTS?

A:

For sugaring, you may not want to. Shaving in-between appointments will make your next sugaring process more intense. It will also throw off the rhythm we are creating together. We are happy to discuss your hair removal plans and process at your appointment.

For laser, go for it!

WHAT IF I STARTED MY PERIODS?

A:

There is nothing about your menstruation that interferes with any services here at Uncle Nats. There is no need to apologize, it's natural! You don't even have to let us know, we'll figure it out. Keep in mind menstruation is never an exception for the 48-hr cancellation fee.

HOW DO I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?

A:

There are two ways to book an appointment.

Online at www.unclenats.com Please book online, we prefer you be the one who puts your card on file and your eyes that read the cancellation policy.

We can always book your next appointment at your current appointment. If you aren't sure about your schedule you can still book online. If you aren't sure about your schedule you can always book online. We are an appointment only space but last-minute appointments are welcome!

WHAT IS SLIDING-SCALE?

A:

An unofficial pay-it-forward mutual aid sliding-scale up to 30% subsidizes services for folks of marginalized communities for whom hair removal is a necessary/life-saving service.

This includes but is not limited to: People of transgender experience, sxwkrs and folks for which these identities intersect.

Uncle Nat’s provides Sliding-Scale at point of sale and our full price paying customers donate in order to make services more accessible for folks who can’t afford them. Many of our transgender clients require hair removal services to exist in the world safely. We ask our clients who pay full price if they’d like to contribute, and our ownership donates the rest!

We ask that if you do not identify as transgender or need hair removal to perform your sxwk, do not ask for Sliding-Scale
